How to choose coffee beans:

Selecting superior coffee beans is crucial to making a great cup of coffee.
This process involves knowing the coffee beans' variety, origin, roast level, and freshness. Below is a detailed guide:
Origin and Varieties: Single-origin coffees are sourced from a singular producer, crop, or region within a particular country, showcasing distinct flavors and characteristics inherent to that specific area. In contrast, blends are a combination of beans sourced from diverse origins. Blends are meticulously crafted to achieve a harmonious flavor profile, blending the unique strengths of each coffee bean variety.
Geographic Regions: Beans sourced from various regions offer distinct flavor profiles. For instance, coffee beans hailing from Latin America often boast light and fruity notes. African coffee beans are renowned for their floral and berry flavors, while those from Asia tend to exhibit earthy undertones and full-bodied richness.
Beans: Arabica beans are famous for their sweeter, softer flavor and higher acidity. They are usually grown at higher altitudes and have various tastes and aromas. Robusta coffee beans have a more robust, more piquant flavor than Arabica beans. They contain more caffeine and are usually grown at lower altitudes. Besides, Robusta beans are typically used in espresso blends because of their deep flavor and good taste.
Roasting Types: They are lightly roasted to retain the original flavor of the coffee bean, with higher acidity. Medium roasted beans balance flavor, aroma, and acidity. Dark roasted beans are smoky and bitter with lower acidity.
Freshness: Freshness affects flavor. Choose coffee beans roasted within the past month to ensure optimal taste. Similar to other agricultural products, coffee beans are subject to seasonal variations. Beans harvested during peak seasons typically offer the best flavor profiles. For instance, in Central and South America, the harvest season spans from September to March, while in East Africa, it typically occurs from October to March.

How to store coffee beans:

To preserve the beans' freshness, store them in an airtight container placed in a cool and dark location. Refrigeration should be avoided as it can lead to condensation and compromise the quality of the beans.

How to make a cup of coffee:

You will need to prepare the following ingredients to make a standard cup of coffee (about 8 ounces):
Coffee beans: 15g (about two tablespoons)
Water: 240 ml (about 8 ounces)
A method based on the example of a drip coffee maker:

Add coffee: Add all ground coffee beans into the filter.
Add water: Fill the water reservoir with cold water.
Brewing: Start the machine.
